This classic coastal beach house with views of the ocean presented us with a truly brilliant opportunity. We were eager to expand the home and add to the relaxed, beachside vibe. Based in the south of Sydney, this project was an absolute treat from beginning to end. For this home extension we had two primary objectives. Firstly, to maximise the property space and make the most of the homes position. The second, for the home to act as the perfect parents retreat.
For this home renovation, we were asked to remodel the family home. The home needed to provide both parents and the children with their own living spaces. The plan was to capture the ocean views from the combined bedroom / living room verandah. The brief also required us to incorporate a study, walk in wardrobe and ensuite for the master bedroom.
At MATTBUILD Group, we always carefully plan each project. This project begun by completely stripping the roof. This allows us to be able to build off the external walls and enabled us to double the existing area of the house. Next, we set the large glass windows in the bedroom and installed the verandah bifold doors. This home extension consisted of timber frame construction with horizontal cladding to the exterior walls and a Colorbond roof to compliment the beach theme.
This evaluation helps to paint a clear picture on the existing property and to highlight what building materials were originally used. This projects v-joint timber panel ceilings were a stand out feature as they worked perfectly with the beach house feeling. The travertine tiles on the verandah also provide an excellent contrast to the internal flooring of Australian mixed hardwood.
