The original brief from our client was very well defined. In summary, our clients requested that we replace the existing original single floor house with a new modern 2 floor design. The house design was to maximise the available block space and to create a home with lots of natural light.
With every home extension planning and problem solving is required to ensure that we meet our deadlines. In this Gray’s Point project there was plenty of demolition work to do! We began by removing all of the original house roof frame and all but 1 wall frame. The existing house being “out of square” meant that we needed to rectify the existing floor frame prior to extending the ground floor footprint. Once we had this sorted the rest of the build was able to be erected off a level and square platform.
For this home extension there were a few stand out features that we thought really created a special home. A combination of rendered brick work, Scyon Axon cladding and exposed timber hardwood gives the external of the house its new look. Internally there is plenty going on with the bathrooms having an earthy feel, the spacious kitchen is all class and the client designed/built atrium for the large Koi fish all working well together to give this home its unique Zen feel.
