This old beloved home provided us with the ideal situation to transform the building into something fresh and vibrant. Based in the north of Sydney, this home extension was a pleasure from start to finish! For this home extension we had two primary objectives. Firstly, to utilise all of the available block space. The second, to extend the home within specific financial parameters.
To achieve these objectives we knew that strategic planning would be crucial. At MATTBUILD Group, we know that close partnerships are the key to building success. It was a pleasure working collaboratively alongside the owners on this job to deliver them their dream homes.
For this home extension, we were asked to complete a double story home extension to create a larger more free flowing living area. This living area would act as the core of the home with a bathroom and another large lounge room downstairs.
At MATTBUILD, we always take the time to carefully plan each project. This project begun with an excavation of rock to allow us to pour the new concrete slab. As this was a double story extension it required some heavy duty engineered steel portal frames. This in combination with the new brickwork, timber frames, and great detailing helped to create the perfect result. Through our time management and planning we were able to deliver our clients their dream home extension.
As a part of common practice we carefully evaluate all existing properties prior to project commencement. This evaluation helps to paint a clear picture on the existing property and to highlight what building materials were originally used. For this project the use of western red cedar windows and bifold floors and spotted gum floors worked perfectly. The raked ceiling funnels through the open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge room to the sandstone tiled verandah all tied in ideally to take advantage of the north facing backyard.
